Wedding Season.. Trends...

Hello readers!

So we published the basics when your're ordering a wedding cake.. Now the fun part, choose the design.

There's a lot of ideas that we can write in this part, but we decided just to publish a few ones based on different situations, trends, and brides..

Theme weddings:

A looooot to talk here, but the most popular cakes, beach theme, nautical theme, winter wonderland, and movie theme like batman or starwars...

Flowers according to season..

There's a lot of options to choose from when we talk about flowers, but we have to always remember that some flowers are really hard to find or too expensive when its not their season. This cake are usually simple and elegant, decorated with fondant or butter cream. You can substitute the real flowers for something more original and different like gum paste flowers.

Naked cakes...

Its a very rustic, chic and amazing trend. It match almost any type of reception and it can be decorated with simple flowers or fruits naturals or made with gum paste, and it looks pretty when the cake its not that big. This is a great option if you want to save some money!..

Runway inspiration:

Maybe its not our first option, but there's a few designs that we can use on this special day.. like this one.. From this trend we can extract the lace cakes which could vary from a very delicate and thin lace to a very thick and huge detail.

Huge, big wedding cakes..

If you have a big budget for your wedding cake, and you want the people to remember forever your cake, this is your option, it's time for royal wedding cakes. I have to say this is not a common option, and the new trend on sizes is small and pretty..

Indian Wedding cakes

For me this are the most amazing, colorful and huge cakes.. I had to mention this ones because for me are really inspirational and such a great job. And i guess you don't have to be Indian to order one of this.. this cakes are to be remembered. This cakes are usually order in bright colors with details on gold or silver.

Stay tuned for more trends!!

First communions

The First Communion, or First Holy Communion, is a ceremony held in the Latin Church tradition of the Catholic Church. It is the colloquial name for a person's first reception of the sacrament of the Holy Eucharist, and in Roman Catholic churches occurs typically at age seven to twelve depending on national custom.
Traditions of celebration surrounding First Communion usually include large family gatherings and parties to celebrate the event. The first communicant wears special clothing. The clothing is often white to symbolize purity, but not in all cultures. Girls often wear fancy dresses and a veil attached to a wreath of flowers or hair ornament. In other communities, girls commonly wear dresses passed down to them from sisters or mothers, or even simply their school uniforms plus the veil and/or wreath. Boys may wear a suit or tuxedo, or their Sunday best.
In many Latin American countries, boys wear military-style dress uniforms with gold braid aiguilettes. In Switzerland both boys and girls wear plain white robes with brown wooden crosses around their necks. In Spain, Germany, Luxembourg and Austria, girls are dressed up as, so to speak, little brides (though this has been partly replaced by albs in more recent times).

In Scotland, boys traditionally wear kilts and other traditional Scottish dress which accompany the kilt. In the Philippines, First Communion services often occur on or around the Feast of the Immaculate Conception (the country's patron saint), with boys donning either the Barong Tagalog or semi-formal Western dress, and girls a plain white dress and sometimes a veil.
Gifts of a religious nature are usually given, such as rosaries and prayer books, in addition to religious statues, icons, and holy cards. Monetary gifts are also common.
Many families have formal professional photographs taken in addition to candid snapshots in order to commemorate the event. Some churches arrange for a professional photographer after the ceremony.
Celebrate this day with one of our cakes, cupcakes or cookies custom made specially for this day!..

Mother's Day.. Do you need a gift?

Hi readers!
Many people in Canada express their gratitude towards mothers and mother figures on Mother’s Day. Mother figures may include step-mothers, mothers-in-law, guardians (eg. foster parents), and family friends. It is the time for people to thank mothers and mother figures who took the time care for them and help them through life’s challenges.
Some people give cards, flowers, or chocolates, and/or make handmade items or special meals on Mother’s Day. Others take their mothers or mother figures to the movies, a restaurant, café, or a day in a park. Some mothers and mother figures also receive special gifts such as jewelry, clothing, accessories, and gift vouchers for services or products.
But this year we want to invite you to giver her something different, or add something else to that special gift...in this case a delicious bouquet of cupcakes, custom made with the flavor and flowers that she loves on buttercream or fondant!
The most important thing in this day more than a gift, is remind her how much she means to you, how much you love her, treat her well, and thank her for everything she did and does for you everyday.

Visit our website and order your bouquet of cupcakes for Mother's day now! Click Here!

Wedding season

Wedding season is here, so I would like to give you a few tips before you start ordering your cake for this special day in your life.

More than the flavor and the general appearance of the cake you have to think beyond that, things like the size of your wedding description of its style, are things that me as a baker need to know so I could create the cake of your dreams.

  1. Reception: outdoor, indoor, during the day or night. This details helps when we're making the design and choosing the frosting.
  2. Decor: try to match the design of the cake with the colors that you're using, flowers or venue.
  3. Temperature of the room: this is related to the reception sometimes. But let the baker (me) know where it's going to be placed the cake, again this could help when we are choosing flavors, fillings, and decoration of the cake.
  4. Size of the cake: the best thing to do it's just order the cake according to the number of guests (if you want to save money) or if you have a budget for that, play with it.
  5. Financial details: you should check on delivery fees, whether there's an extra charge or deposit required for the cake stand and cake and if they're refundable, and all of your options regarding the cost.
We'll be posting more details about wedding cakes soon.. so stay tuned!

And if you have any questions, don't hesitate and leave your comments, or visit our website, send us a e-mail and request more information, we can help you in this big day!

Earth Day

Let's celebrate today the Earth Day!

Celebrate and protect our natural environment by taking part in Earth Day. Join with community groups to explore environmental and ecological issues on local and international scales, and work towards making a difference to our habitat.
If you’re really committed, why not learn the words to the Earth Day anthem (sung to the tune of ‘Ode to Joy’):
Joyful joyful we adore our Earth in all its wonderment
Simple gifts of nature that all join into a paradise
Now we must resolve to protect her
Show her our love through out all time
With our gentle hand and touch
We make our home a newborn world

Show her our love through out all time
With our gentle hand and touch
We make our home a newborn world

Trends.. Part 3, Remixes

Hi everyone,
Something new that we started to see in different bakeries and cakes shops is the mix off simple ingredients and traditional treats into a cake or dessert.
Usually we see things like Oreo cheesecake, chocolate chip cookie ice cream, and so many things like that... And that's what we're going to talk about today.

Cake flavors march into cookies cookies into pies, pies into ice cream, and the list goes and goes on.  We can see things from banana walnut french toast cupcakes to red velvet cookies and pecan pie cheesecake...
This is a new trend and thing that we can try at home with our kids or friends. So for that, I'm going to mention some ideas that we could try or you could try, and if you do, don't forget to leave a comment below and tell us what do you think about this remixes  or mashups desserts.
  1. Caramel kisses brownies just makes your brown recipe with Hershey caramel kiss.
  2. Snickers ice cream brownie bites.
  3. Gooey marshmallows funfetti cookies .

Red Velvet Cake

Hi everyone!
Today I want to share with you one of my favorite recipes in the world... it's the red velvet cake. The red velvet it's just a chocolate cake but we add some red coloring to get this amazing look and we top this cake or cupcakes with cream cheese frosting that's just as tasty as the red velvet cake itself.

Ingredients:
  • 2 1/2 cups cake flour
  • 2 tablespoonsof unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 cups of sugar
  • 1 1/2 cup of vegetable oil
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 of teaspoon of red food color
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 1 cup of buttermilk 1
  •  1/2teaspoon of baking soda
  • 2 teaspoons of white vinegar

Directions:
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Wisk together cake flour, cocoa, salt. With electric mixer on medium high speed mix together oil and sugar add eggs one at a time and don't forget to scrap down side of bowl as needed. Mix in food color and vanilla.
Reduce speed and add flour in three batches alternating with buttermilk, whisking well after each. Stir together the baking soda and vinegar in a small bowl and then added to the batter on medium speed for 10 seconds. You can use this recipe for cupcakes or for cakes.
To finish this, use a small offset spatula to spread the cake or cupcakes with frosting.

NOTE: For this recipe try to use gel paste food color because he's much more concentrated then the supermarket variety if that's what you have you're going to use a lot of liquid to achieve the desired shade and sometimes this coloring have some weird taste that could ruin your cake or cupcake.

For the frosting, mix 4 ounces of unsalted butter, 6 ounces of cream cheese, 2 cups of confectioners sugar and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract until smooth.
This could be refrigerated for 3 days and before you use it bringing to room temperature and beat it until smooth.

If you try this recipe let us know your thoughts ,and if you like it just shared it with your friends and family, don't forget to comment below!

Save the Elephants Day!

They might be wildlife icons, but, sadly, elephants are in crisis. Save The Elephant Day is a chance to show our love and support for these much-loved giants and raise awareness of the threats to their future in both Africa and Asia, ranging from ivory poachers and traffickers to loss of habitat.
Also known as World Elephant Day, the occasion was founded by the Elephant Reintroduction Foundation, based in Thailand, working together with Canadian film-maker Patricia Sims. The launch of this international initiative in 2012 saw the release of the documentary film ‘Return to the Forest’, narrated by Star Trek legend William Shatner.
The ideal way to mark the day is to donate to a charity helping elephants or organize an event in aid of these beautiful but threatened beasts. You could also watch a wildlife film about elephants or sign a petition to raise awareness..
You can visit this websites for donations:

Worst decorated cakes..

Hi everyone,

Ok, so maybe we're not the best cake decorators in Canada, but we are sure that we're not going to make this kind of mistakes, we'll promise!

  1. Write Happy Birthday just Happy Birthday
  2. So we guess there was room after all:
  3. Was this the cake decorator’s passive-aggressive way of saying, “I don’t speak French”?
  4. The real question is, who gets a birthday cake for Christmas?
  5. Never question a cake artist’s choices: If they want to use red, they’ll use RED:
  6. I hope this was for a stoner couple:
  7. It’s good to celebrate those small accomplishments in life:
  8. Maybe they were just afraid of copyright infringement?
  9. Speaking of lyrics, this sounds like the misquoted song lyrics to Lisa Loeb’s “Stay (I’ve Missed You)”:
  10. This almost sounds like it’s a Beatles lyric:

Trends.. Part 2

Hello readers,

Flavours.. Mmm which one to make, to order, or to mix?

Sometimes it's not easy to have a really good answer to that question because not all of us are chefs or professional bakers with that skill to mix and have the proper flavor that were looking for to create a new trend or create a delicious and unforgettable flavor in our preparation.
To get that, we could use as reference the flavors that we already know like Italian flavor such as basil or rosemary and tomato. But today we're not going to talk about that, we're going to talk about the new trends.

Investigation reveals that Middle Eastern North African flavors are the new things on cakes. Yes! spicy ingredients are becoming increasingly popular on sweet treat making. Ingredients like harissa, zaatar, and Aleppo peppers mix with some dark chocolate or creamy custard will bring new International and delicious flavor to your preparation.
So,, why not to try this things in our next cake?
Comments are welcome, and let us know if you tried something like this before?

Pet Day!!

My family.
Pet Day is a chance for those of us who own pets to show them how much we love them. Now, we all can think of the traditional things: a new toy, some tasty treats, or a long walk in the park, maybe a game of fetch, assuming you have a dog! But, think outside the box and come up with some ideas to celebrate your relationship with your pet. Once you have indulged your own animals with their favorite treats, why not consider donating to a shelter or or other animal welfare organization?
There are so many neglected and unwanted animals waiting for some love and attention. You can donate your time, or you can donate food or other supplies. Every little bit helps. If you don’t already own a pet, what better time to adopt one? A good phrase to keep in mind is “adopt, don’t shop.”
Colaborate with those organizations such as the SPCA in Toronto and other cities today! help them and why not, give a new home to one needed pet.

Winston Churchill Day

On April 9th in 1963, Winston Churchill became the second person to become an Honorary Citizen of the United States, although this was the first time Congress had resolved that it was to be bestowed by the President of the United States, on a foreign national – he was granted citizenship of eight individual states as a prelude :- Hawaii, Maryland, Nebraska, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and West Virginia. Winston Churchill Day commemorates this event.
This honour was bestowed upon him by the 35th President of the United States – John F Kennedy, although Churchill was not present himself at the ceremony, his son and grandson were there for him. It had been hoped Churchill would not only witness the event on television – which he did with his wife – but would be able to respond. Problems with a relay station in Cornwall prevented this.
